Thirty in Thirty
For the month of November 2017 I am writing Thirty Stories in Thirty Days from writing prompts provided by the students I tell stories to. They will pick the best prompts per class and post them on my talesbydan.com web site. There will be one regular prompt, one extended narrative prompt and one picture prompt from each class. Each day of November I will take a prompt and write a short story. I will do a short video at the beginning of each story to give them my first thoughts as I read the prompt and then do a short video at the end to compare my first thoughts to what I actually wrote. The whole idea behind this is to show them the process of writing a story from a prompt. I assume some of the stories will be good and some not. They will all be first drafts with little or no revision. The teachers and the students can take these stories and use them to see if I met the theme, specifics and feeling of the prompt. This should give them some insight when they write their own stories to a prompt. I have always thought that a "Picture is worth a thousand words" and I have written my short stories to meet or exceed that word count. So each story I write I will try to meet that count so that at the end of the month I will have written thirty thousand words. Wish me luck. Don't forget, you can follow this adventure in writing on my website at talesbydan.com
